ELEANOR ISAAC
September 11,1925 - October 25, 2017
Eleanor Isaac was born to Jacob D. and Elizabeth Wiebe Bartel on September 11, 1925, at Steinbach, MB. She peacefully passed away at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, MB, on October 25, 2017, reaching the age of 92 years.
Mom grew up in the Steinbach community. She gave her heart to God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite as a teenager, remaining faithful to the end.
In her younger years she worked at the Steinbach Hatchery. During this time, she met Abe Isaac whom she married on October 13, 1946 and faithfully stood by his side. Dad and Mom started their married life in the Steinbach area. Seven children were born into their home. In 1953 they moved to Cromer, MB. Availing herself of the grace of God, our mother bravely endured the loss of our father in 1970 and courageously carried on with her family, the youngest being only three years of age. In retrospect, we marvel at her uncomplaining way of facing life, making the best of whatever came, and having a positive approach in most areas of life. Her cheerful look and ready smile was inspiring to all who knew her. Grandma was very special to each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom spent the last seven years at Maplewood Manor appreciating the love and care she received there.
Left to remember her are children: Curtis & Rayma, Dewberry, AB; Janice Reimer, Cromer, MB; Jerry & Pat, Enderby, BC; Delton & Johanna, Moorefield, ON; Brent & Connie, Dauphin, MB; Darcy & Cindy, Cromer, MB; and Lorelei & Kelly Toews, Applehill, ON. Also remembering grandma are 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Edna Isaac, Carrot River, SK: Glen Bartel, Steinbach, MB: Clarice & George Thiessen, Reston, MB: Adeline & Dave Penner, Kleefeld, MB; Dorothy & John Burns, Lobelville, TN; Diana & Denton Friesen, Leamington, ON. In-laws: Mary Ann Bartel, Steinbach, MB; Linden & Alice Wohlgemuth, Neepawa, MB, Emily Wohlgemuth, Steinbach, MB; Cliff Giesbrecht, Armstrong, BC; John & Florence Isaac, Steinbach, MB.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, a sister, and a son-in-law.
The funeral service for Eleanor will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Sinclair, MB, with interment at the church cemetery.
