DENISE PACHNIOWSKI
(nee Nault)

Blessed this planet with her presence August, 30 1929 in St. Pierre MB, and passed away October 21 2017 in Vita, MB. She was a fearless leader to her 3 children; Paul (Val), and daughters Kune (Ray) and Brenda, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In the beginning Denise was a true farmer, on the fields, tending the cows, mending fences. Later in life she found herself working at the Vita Hospital until retirement. Retirement was a word Denise didn’t understand, with her endless energy you’d find her in her garden, tending flowers, hanging yet another bird feeder or more Christmas lights, putting around her yard, or fixing her house. She was never a great cook but mastered her meat pies, pickled beets, and coveted jam jam cookies. Denise made a huge impact on many people’s lives. No matter who you were family or friend, she’d give you a place to stay or her last dollar. Denise had a soft spot for the animals, taking in strays and runts of the litters (always had a thing for the underdogs). She was stubborn as an ox, fearlessly independent to the end, and made it clear to everyone that it was her way or no way.

She was a strong presence with a love it or leave it attitude, full of clever comebacks, and no filter on her mouth. This made her a favorite at her coffee stops, and with her many friends all over town. Denise lived young and never felt or acted her age, she loved playing jokes on people and laughing at others expense. Always saying, “If you aren’t worth a laugh, you’re worth nothing!” Denise was a sneaky card shark, and you weren’t careful she’d skunk you at crib. She had a lifelong affair with salt and we would all joke, saying she was pickled.

Denise was a proud grandma and could be found cheering on her “kids” at the ball diamond or the hockey rinks. She loved bowling, and always said if she won the lottery she’d build a bowling lane in Vita. Denise found peace in watching her birds, excitement in her travels to Yellowknife and BC, joy in her family and friends, and lived a good life wherever she went. Denise was an open-hearted soul who gave to others freely. We request that, instead of flowers, Denise would hope that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in her name.

As per Denise’s wishes there will be no service held.
