CELIA JOYCE KUTZAK
Aug. 29, 1937-Sept. 3, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Kutzak (nee Eliuk) on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on Aug. 29, 1937 and raised in Arbakka, MB.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Nick; children, Russel (Donna), Debbie (Wayne) Sobering, Susan (Richard) Patrick and Ken (Laurie); grandchildren, Justin (Jen), Pamela (Brad), Kyle, Leigh-ann (Jamie), Kelli, Travis (Amber) and Bradley (Andrea); great-grandchildren, Kipton, Rhett, Jase, Ayla and Emmett; sisters, Marilyn, Jeanette (Gibson) and Carole (John); sisters-in-law, Katie (Myron), Lillian and Mary. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a very special part of her heart.

She was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter Kerri-Ann, her parents George and Winnie and her brother George.

Joyce married Nick in 1955 and together settled and raised their four children in Sirko, MB on their family farm (JN Hereford Farm). She was a strong, loving, caring and kind woman who would put the needs of others ahead of her own.

She loved cooking, canning, and visits with her family and friends. Coffee was always on and everyone was welcome for a home-cooked meal. One of her greatest joys was a family gathering when everyone could attend and we all looked forward to her delicious meals. She instilled her love of cooking in her children and grandchildren who will continue making her recipes, like Baba’s pickles and cabbage rolls.

She was an active member of the Sirko church and Ukrainian Women’s Association. She will be so missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to her home care workers, coordinators, and the staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre for their compassion and excellent care.

Viewing will take place on Thursday, Sept. 7 between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with prayers being said at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St Elias Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, Sirko, MB with Very Reverend Miron Pozniak and Very Reverend Father Michael Skrumeda officiating. Interment will follow later that day at Glen Eden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to St Elias Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church.

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Vichnaya Pamyat.
