NORM BOYECHKO
1945-2017
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Norman Ernest Boyechko passed away on August 13 with his loving and dedicated wife Ruth (de Romanette) by his side.
Norm Boyechko was born in Steinbach, MB on June 4, 1945 to loving parents Mary (Hrabchak) Boyechko and William (Bill) Boyechko.
He was lovingly given the nickname “Chico” early in his life and used it throughout his career.
He is also survived by his loving father Bill Boyechko and his loving sister Elaine Boyde.
Norm is also survived by his children: Jason Boyechko (Manda) and Paula Boyechko-Vega (Richard) and grandchildren Cody and Enzo Boyechko-Vega; along with Ruth Boyechko, the mother of his children.
He is also survived by his nieces: June Holloway (Mike), Crystal Derksen (Brent, Carter and Jesse) and Sheryl Hoshowski (Corey).
Norm was mostly self-employed throughout his life and owned his own autobody shop in Ile des Chênes, MB, where he and Ruth de Romanette lived for many years. His shop was called “Chico’s Autobody,” where he had many clients and friends who respected his talent on cars.
He also worked for many places in Winnipeg — including Auto Haus.
In later years they moved to Kelowna where he enjoyed woodworking, watching Nascar races, and even went to the Daytona 500, Florida and Las Vegas Speedway numerous times and music was his life.
His great love for Ukrainian music (especially) polkas to listen to. He would always tune in to CKJS on Fridays and Saturdays.
A true friend who knew him.
He was a very generous and compassionate man who made each life he touched a better one.
Norm will always be missed, never forgotten and forever loved.
As per Norm’s request, cremation has already taken place.
He was predeceased by his mother - Mary Boyecko in 2009.
For Norm’s family and friends in Kelowna, BC and Steinbach, MB a gathering at a later date will be announced for a special ceremony.
