JOHN D. KORNELSON
May 18, 1920 - April 30, 2017
John D. Kornelson, 96, of Steinbach, MB, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
He leaves to cherish his memory six children and their spouses: Ron (Sue) Kornelson, Gordon (Rebecca) Kornelson, Mary (Abe) Hiebert, Agnes (Jac) Friesen, George (Chris) Kornelson, Marge (Gary) McLean; eighteen grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren; sister Lottie Siemens of Rosenort; two sisters-in-law: Agatha Wiebe of Calgary and Agnes Nikkel of Steinbach; brother-in-law Abe (Mary) Martens of Kleefeld, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by Eva’s family: Shirley & Terry Gross, Lawrence, Gloria, Del, and Louise; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, one brother Ben (Erna) Unger and two sisters Alvina (Cornie) Wiebe and Martha (George) Barkman.
John was predeceased by his first wife Agnes (nee Nikkel), his second wife Eva (nee Unger), one great-grandson, two brothers and four sisters.
The viewing will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, MB.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main Street, Steinbach, with the interment at Heritage Cemetery. Viewing will be prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven Group Foundation, 177 Woodhaven Ave, Steinbach, MB, R5G 1K7.
