Virginia Katherine (Friesen) Woodard died on Friday, Mar. 31, 2017, of natural causes. She was born July 28, 1933 in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada. She graduated from Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1955, where she majored in music and organ and met her husband, Jim. In Ventura, before retiring in 1998, she worked as a copy editor for Regal Books for 11 years.
Surviving are, her daughter Katrina Leffler of Palm Springs, CA; son Josef Woodard and wife Peggy Grossman of Santa Barbara, CA; daughter Loraine Woodard and husband Joel Villasenor of Oakland, CA; and son David Woodard and wife Sonja Vectomov of Prague, Czech Republic. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Nicole Jackson, Rob Campoy, Sam Woodard, Claire Woodard, Ruben Villasenor, Emily Villasenor, Melia Woodard, and step-granddaughter Lumi. One great-grandson also survives, Finn Jackson.
Virginia’s husband, parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura, CA.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 4 at Ventura Baptist Church, 5415 Ralston St, Ventura, CA.
