HARVEY ABRAM DYCK
Jan 31, 1950 – February 16, 2017

Following a prolonged and difficult hospitalization in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Harvey passed away quietly on February 16, 2017. He had just passed his 67th birthday. During his last weeks, he was able to enjoy visits by brothers, friends and his son Myron Lee.

Harvey’s early life was spent in Hague, Saskatchewan, but he moved with his family as a young schoolboy to Steinbach, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Helena Dyck, a brother Waldemar and two sisters-in-law. He is survived by his son Myron Lee, two grand-daughters, brothers Harold (Alfrieda), Willmuth “Bill” (Rose), Arnold, Leonard and Elmer (Shirley), a number of nephews and nieces, as well as friends in places where he lived and worked.

Harvey grew up to develop admirable skill in carpentry and woodwork, leaving behind fine examples of his careful touch. Never at home in city settings, he was happiest when he had natural surroundings and space around him. At the same time, he enjoyed the company of friends, who found him loyal and generous to the core. A survivor of several serious road accidents and other close calls, he sometimes wondered how he still managed to stay with us, but he retained an optimistic spirit and cheerful manner.

Harvey returned in his last years to the province of his birth, putting his skills to work in park and hotel maintenance. His last home was in Macklin, Saskatchewan, where he will be missed by friends he made there. Setbacks in his health in the last few years and complications arising from them this Fall finally proved too much for his body and modern medicine to reverse. The family is thankful for the prolonged efforts of medical staff at University Hospital, Saskatoon.

Cremation has taken place and a family memorial event is planned for a later date.
