ADINA WOHLGEMUTH GOOSSEN ISAAC
March 26, 1924 - January 13, 2017
Adina Isaac of Steinbach, MB, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family at her bedside in Maplewood Manor on the evening of Friday, January 13, 2017. In her 92 years, she touched the lives of many with her unconditional love and strong character built on a foundation of faith. She was a mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, aunt, friend and church member. She will be missed by all and remembered with much love and fondness.
Adina was born on March 26, 1924 to Henry and Katherina Penner Wohlgemuth in Greenland, Manitoba. She was the fourth child in a family of 9. She was baptized and remained faithful to her vows and spent her life actively involved in devotion to God.
She was united in marriage to William Goossen of Rosenort on May 26, 1944 and they adopted their beloved and only son Richard when he was an infant. They lived and farmed in Rosenort until early 1965 when they then moved to Abbotsford, BC. Adina worked in Valhaven Care Home in the Mt. Lehman area and brought joy and love to the sick and elderly and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of others.
Adina lost her husband in the summer of 1980. On July 22, 1990, she married Ben Isaac and in the process gained many new daughters and sons who loved and adopted her as their own. They were married for 13 years until Ben passed away in 2003 and Adina continued to live out her remaining years in the community of Steinbach.
Adina had a talent and passion for many crafts and gardening. There was nothing she couldn’t make or do! Sewing, knitting, quilting, needlepoint, and puzzling. Her family and friends have been blessed over the years to be the recipients of many of her projects.
Towards the end Adina suffered with asthma and the various pains that many of the elderly have to bear. Throughout it all she always kept a positive attitude and expressed interest in others over her own needs. Her patience, loving care and understanding were a real anchor to her family.
She leaves to mourn one son Richard & Linda Goossen; nine step-children, Carol & Phil Klassen, Howard & Averill Isaac, Eleanor & Wilmer Isaac, Raymond & Priscilla Isaac, Garry & Joanne Isaac, Valerie & Galen Wiebe, Donna & Roy Wiebe, Bradley & Donita Isaac, Shirley & Dave Shields. Two sisters, Katie Reimer & Nellie Penner; one sister-in-law, Helen Wohlgemuth; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the Staff of Maplewood Manor for caring so lovingly for Mom the past ten years.
The funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Roblin, MB, with the interment at the church cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Adina may be made to the Asthma Society of Manitoba, Toronto. ON.
