FRANK E. PLETT
February 5, 1930 – December 29, 2016
Our dad, Frank Esau Plett, was born on the family farm in Prairie Rose (Landmark) on February 5, 1930 to David K. and Elizabeth Plett. He was the last in a family of 10 children.
At age 18, Dad accepted Christ as his personal saviour, and was baptized on the confession of his faith in June of 1948, becoming a member of Prairie Rose Church, where he remained a faithful member until the time of his death.
At age 26, Dad met our mom and after a short courtship they were married in Rosenort on October 27, 1956. Married life started out in a small unfinished bungalow that dad built on the farm. It was into this little house that all five children were welcomed; Rod in 1957, Steve in 1959, Twyla in 1961, Aime in 1964, and Tami in 1966.
Dad served on numerous boards and committees, serving variously on the Landmark Credit Union board, the Ste. Anne Co-Op board, and as a 4H leader. However, his service was never more evident than in his home church. Many people have testified to Dad’s perseverance, calm demeanour and steady hand as he quietly went about his ministry without looking for recognition or praise.
Towards retirement, Dad became interested in helping the hungry, being one of the early leaders in establishing a Canadian Foodgrains Bank growing project in Landmark in 1996. He remained kind and gracious to the very end, always making visitors feel welcome.
Dad passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home. He is survived by Helen, his faithful wife of 60 years; five children: Rod (Pat), Steve (Lori), Twyla (Randy) Plett, Aime, and Tami (Daniel)Mueller; as well as 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Prairie Rose EMC, Landmark, MB, with the interment at the church cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Frank may be made to Canadian Foodgrains Bank, Winnipeg, MB.
