It is with great sadness that the family of Roger St Hilaire announce his passing on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at the age of 77 years, at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, MB. Roger was born in St Pierre-Jolys on Aug. 31, 1939 to Adelard and Dorothée St Hilaire.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Claudette (née Henrie), and two children, Ronald (Florence) and Rachel. He leaves to cherish his memory three grandchildren, Claude (Katie), Danielle (Erick Rocan), Michelle; and one great-grandchild, Jaden Rocan; brothers and sisters, Albert (Laurette), Simone (Dieudonné Levesque), Georges (Rita), Edmond (Peggy), Denise (Fernand Gervais), Madeleine (Raymond Dupuis), Marcel (Yvette), Paul (Esther), Pauline (Gilbert Gervais), Irene (Jim Anderson), Janine, Lucien (Agnes), Leonne (Wayne Van Walleghem); in-laws, Camillia (Gus Mousseau), Auril (Cecile), Denis (May), Lionel (Rose), Dollard (Betty), Alfred, Rita (Henry Harel), Gerard (Lucille), and Margaret; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Roger grew up on a farm near St Pierre with his 13 brothers and sisters. He enjoyed the outdoors and riding his four-wheeler and snowmobiles. It was a hobby Roger and Claudette enjoyed together. Above all, Roger was a dedicated family man who loved his wife and family dearly. He will always be remembered by family and friends as a strong, hardworking man with an amazing smile and a contagious laugh.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the 2nd floor staff of Heritage Life PCH for their loving and compassionate care to Roger during his time there as well as Birchwood Funeral Chapel.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St Joachim Roman Catholic Church, 101 Principle St, La Broquerie, MB.
For those who wish, donations in memory of Roger may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, MB.
