PETER J. FEHR
June 16, 1934 – December 8, 2016
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dad, Peter Fehr, on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the age of 82, at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville after battling a lengthy illness.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary (nee Wieler), his seven children: Janet (Ron), Larry (Bonita), Rod (Rhonda), Ken (Sjana), Val (Chris), Brenda (Brent) and Bob (Bonny), along with 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, eight siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as by his friends and neighbours.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, one son (Jim), four brothers and one granddaughter.
He was born on June 16, 1934 in Haskett, MB, and lived most of his life in New Bothwell, MB.
Dad and Mom were married on September 29, 1957 in Winkler and lived in Roland. After they married, they lived in various places while raising their eight children before putting their roots down in New Bothwell.
Dad had a 14-year career as a truck driver working for Borland Construction in Winnipeg where he was known as “low-bed Pete”. He then turned to doing what he was passionate about... he started a home-based business in New Bothwell called Crown Valley Used Furniture & Appliances and became very well known at local auction sales where his bidding paddle #1 is still reserved.
While he didn’t always say it, Dad had great love for his family. He taught us how to be responsible and instilled in us the importance of our family.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Credit Union Manor (Supportive Living) also the Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, MB. The family also thanks those who visited with and prayed for our dad.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with interment at New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church Cemetery.
Flowers are graciously declined. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Peter may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, http://www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca.
