GORDON PETER DYCK
April 13, 1961 – November 29, 2016
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Peter Dyck (Pince), age 55, of Steinbach, MB. Gordon leaves to cherish his wife, Angela, children Ryan and Vanessa (boyfriend Valerio); brother Rudy (Tanis), sister Ingrid (Reg) Penner; niece Kara (Tim Fehr); father, Peter, and second mom, Margarete, and her children Ron (Andrea) and Nancy (Kevin); brother-in-law Jon (Jenn) Rempel, as well as nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gordon was pre-deceased by his mother, Lilly (1978), his mother-in-law, Shirley (2004) and his father-in-law, Peter (2015).
Gord loved his family unconditionally. Most, if not all of the things he worked for were to provide them with a safe, loving and happy home life. He often spoke, with beaming pride, when discussing Vanessa’s developing photography business, her academic ability and her mentoring of younger children in church youth ministry. Gord and Ryan spent many hours together at the lake and at the shop. Gord’s blue eyes sparkled when he spoke of Ryan’s practical common sense approach to things and he enjoyed seeing Ryan take an interest in all things mechanical.
Gord had an abundance of energy, an ever-present, optimistic attitude and an overall zest for life. That zest for life was evident in his love of the outdoors and his appreciation and respect for nature. His outdoor passions included the cottage at Lake of the Woods, where Gord enjoyed shifting gears from hectic everyday life by hosting friends and family. There was always a relaxing, but competitive, game of crib to be had as well as a refreshment or two. Gord loved boating, fishing, sailing, snowmobiling and, in the last few years, a new adventure of hunting with Ryan.
A problem solver who never backed down from a challenge, Gord built a diversified business by working hard and smart. Gord was always one step ahead of the curve by being unafraid to take calculated risks. He was a generous, fair-minded employer who took chances on people and helped them succeed. He cared about his employees and in return they paid him back with loyalty and hard work.
Gord’s simple, quiet faith was the bedrock of his life. His overall philosophy of life was patience, mentorship, perseverance, generosity, and a quiet humility that precluded him from rarely, if ever, complaining. This was evident throughout the struggles he endured during his illness.
Gord left an indelible mark on those around him. He was loved and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Steinbach Mennonite Church, 345 Loewen Boulevard. Viewing prior to the service. Interment in the Heritage Cemetery.
