TINA DOERKSEN
May 16, 1931 – October 31, 2016
Tina Doerksen (nee Giesbrecht), 85, of Steinbach, MB, died peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Bethesda Place PCH, Steinbach, MB.
She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Larry Siemens), Dan (Cindy), Helen (Henry Enns), Paul (Julie), Tim (Eileen), Sam (Pauline), Mark (Mary), and Steve (Jodie), 30 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 12 siblings.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Henry Doerksen in 1975, her son Levi in 2013, and three brothers.
She was born in Osterwich, Manitoba, and lived in New Bothwell for much of her life. Our dad’s death at a relatively young age left her as a single mother to 9 children, a role which she took on in exemplary and faithful fashion even though it called for significant sacrifice on her part. Her hard work, along with her sacrificial and unconditional love and support, sustained our family during difficult times. Not long after her first major stroke in 2002, she moved to Steinbach, spending her last 6 years in Bethesda Place.
The family would like to thank the staff for the gracious care extended to her at Bethesda during these years. We also wish to express our hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose suffering love sustained Mom throughout her life. And so we grieve, but are not entirely bereft or without hope.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at the Bothwell Christian Fellowship Church, 20 Sara Avenue, New Bothwell, MB.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bothwell Christian Fellowship Church with interment at the Silberfeld Cemetery.
