AIMÉ MOREAU
Nov. 24, 1927-Oct. 21, 2016

Aimé Moreau, age 88, passed away peacefully at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, MB, on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016. Aimé was born at St Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB to Joe Moreau and Yvonne Moreau (nee Lavallee). He grew up in Haywood, MB, eventually spending most of his life in Ste Anne, MB with his wife Pierrette.

Aimé is remembered fondly. He and Pierrette spent 59 years together after meeting at a cousin’s birthday party. The first time she saw him she thought to herself, “I’m going to marry him.” They were married on Oct. 26, 1957. Aimé worked as a truck driver for most of his life and spent over 25 accident-free years with Kleysen Transport.

A hardworking and reserved man, Pépère enjoyed reading the Reader’s Digest, learning about history and listening to the music of Johnny Cash from “his” chair. He had a fantastic sense of humour and was fond of caring for neighbourhood cats. He loved to hold babies, and if you heard him say “Yah, yah, yah” when you hugged him, you knew he loved you.

Aimé is survived by his beloved wife Pierrette, and their children Monique (Guy), Mona, Gilbert (Erin) and Françis, as well as by a large extended family including 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Marie, great-grandson Xander and his siblings Wilbert, Rita, Anita, Helen and Matilda.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. Arrangements by Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-204-346-1030 or 1-888-454-1030.
