HELEN NEUFELD (NEE REIMER)
October 17, 1936 – October 4, 2016

Helen Neufeld (nee Reimer), (Mom), 79, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Steinbach, Manitoba.

She is survived by three daughters, three sons, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mom left us to be with the Lord in the wee hours of Tuesday, October 4, 2016 with her children by her side.

She was born on October 17, 1936 in Altona, Manitoba.

She shared with us her many fond memories of her late father Henry P. Reimer, who we grew to love as well.

She was blessed with six children: Mary Lou (Wally), Deb (Frank), Gerry (Elfrieda), Fred (Lola), Brenda (Jim), and Stephen. Mom is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, countless friends and most importantly her life long friend and confidant Minnie, as well as all of her beloved children.

Mom was a woman of considerable stamina and fortitude raising these six children on her own!
Mom was always our favourite fixture at all of the family gatherings over her long life and even as her health started to decline, we made sure that she was never left out of any of the activities. It must be said that Mom and Steve became a familiar pair and as Steve grew he continued to ensure that Mom was very well looked after. Many people in the community will remember Steve, Mom and “The Bike” (a Dutch cargo bike) with Mom being the cargo!
People would comment and ask if he had built the bike, at which point he would reply
“No…. but I installed the Air Bag” prompting Mom to laughingly give Steve a good solid swat!

Throughout Mom's life she faced numerous hardships and challenges that would have overwhelmed and crushed a lesser person. These were occasions for her to give up, but she did not. We account, as Mom did, that her strength and ability to endure the unpredictable nature of life was due to God and his love for her. Mom's faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ was important to her and it is in this truth that she rested. She prayed for that for her family as well. Mom you can be rest assured that you are not to be forgotten. We will certainly continue to make you proud of us Mom. For you were not only our Mother, but our hero and our friend. If you would have asked Steve twenty five years ago about Mom, he would have told you that while mom had many fantastic qualities, for a nominal fee they could have her! My how things have changed! We would not trade one single memory that Mom and all of us have shared as they have shaped our relationships and solidified our love for one another. Mom, you have impacted each one of us with your love and we will miss you dearly. Rest well Mom you are safe in the arms of Jesus!

Until we meet again Toots!
