It is with great sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of Bill Jaman in the early hours of August 22, 2016 peacefully in his sleep at the age of 83 years. He was the youngest of the family and was born on January 25, 1933.
He was predeceased by his parents Elutza and Maria, his siblings John, Nick, Sam, Pete, Sophie, Lee, Kay, and Rose and One niece Sherry Kopelchuk of Saskatoon.
He will sadly be missed by his sisters; Mary Markel and Doris Melson of Ontario, nieces and nephews of Ontario; Colleen, Brean, Debbie, Rick, Margo, Jim, and in Manitoba his close niece and nephew, the children of his late brother John, Margaret Shuwera, Bill Jaman and his children, Wesley, Diane and their family, we always included Uncle Bill in all the family events and holiday celebrations.
Margaret and Bill were not only his niece and nephew, but also his caregivers. We will all miss his quick witt, he loved to joke, tease and enjoyed many visits at the farm with family and friends. He also loved dancing and in the good old days at the farm, when his sisters came to visit they wore out the linoleum, or burned the grass. He had a passion for baseball and followed all the games. Bill was a life long member and Vice President of the church south of Gardenton, Manitoba (The St Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church), he served as councillor for his ward with the RM of Stuartburn for many years. He was also a active member of the Ukrainian Museum & Village of Gardenton serving as Director and Vice President. He was involved since the beginning of the museum when it was built in 1965.
Bill was born and raised in Gardenton, Manitoba where he resided most of his life. He loved to farm, his horses and his dog who always had a special place in his heart.
In the last few years he lived in Vita, Manitoba and later on December 30, 2015 he moved to the Vita Personal Care Home.
We’d like to thank all the staff at the PCH and his Doctor, Dr. Ulanovych for her care, and Gordon Johnson for wheeling Bill’s chair around to the events.
Also special Thank you to Shirley, Owner of the Vita Hotel & Restaurant for always being so nice to him, she made him his favorite hamburger and took the time to chat with him.
