GEORGE REMPEL
January 17, 1933 - June 15, 2016
George Rempel, 83, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
He was married to Marie (Vogt) Rempel on October 16, 1960. They had three children, Curtis, Phil and Boni.
George was born in the Municipality of Sifton (Oak Lake Manitoba) on his parent’s farm.
In 1948, the family moved to Randolph (Chortitz), Manitoba, and operated a dairy and grain farm. George enjoyed life on the farm but pursued his further interest and received his journeyman's papers in automotive mechanics from Red River Community College and then was employed at J.R. Friesen and Sons for eight years. In 1968, George and his family moved to Randolph and started dairy farming, which was his occupation until 2001.
George’s passions were: farming, camping, the Canadian Food Grains Bank, service to his church (Steinbach Mennonite Church), and his family. George was a generous, kind man who enjoyed the company of friends in his home, church or wherever the journey led them.
George leaves to mourn: his wife Marie (Vogt) Rempel, his children: Curtis Rempel, Phil (Angie) Rempel, Boni (Matt) Friesen; five grandchildren: Rowan, Bronwyn, Kadri, Raina Rempel and Mackenzie Rempel, and his mother Justina Rempel. Also his two brothers and two sisters.
He was predeceased by: his father Abram Rempel, one sister and one brother.
The memorial service took place on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Steinbach Mennonite Church, 345 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, MB, with a private ash interment at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Food Grains Bank or the Bethesda Foundation (in memo line: Cancer Care Steinbach).
