It is with great sadness that the family of Murray Schroeder announces his passing on Sunday, May 22, 2016.
He is survived by his son Michael Schroeder, his daughter Nicole Schroeder and granddaughter Raely Brown, sister Brenda (Allan) Beaton, Chelsea Beaton and Nicholas Beaton, sister Debbie (Kelly) McDonald, Caitlin (Cole) Tipton, and Hadley, and Megan (Tanner Czemeres) McDonald, sister-in-law Aileen (Doug Lintott) Schroeder, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Gary Harder, nephews Micheal and Jonathon, and many relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Brenda, parents Art and Nora Schroeder, brother Ray, sister Donna Lynn (in infancy) and father and mother-in-law Harry and Evelyn Gerbandt.
Murray was born on Nov. 30, 1953 in Steinbach, MB. Murray had a long career with Manitoba Highways where he made many lifetime friends. One of the highlights of his career was receiving his 25-year service award from then Premier Gary Doer in 2003.
Murray was an avid curler and was able to go to the Legion nationals twice where they won in Summerside, PEI in 1988. He also loved to hunt and fish in his spare time.
Ten years ago Murray lost the love of his life, his wife Brenda. Not a day went by that he didn’t miss her. We are sure that they are finally together again. Six years ago he moved to his little cottage in Sandilands. He made many friends and made the hamlet a little better by helping out wherever he could.
A celebration of Murray’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Murray’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
