John Hiebert of Steinbach, MB, formerly of Kleefeld, MB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the age of 91, at the Bethesda Regional Health Center, Steinbach, MB.
John is survived by: five children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
From early on in life Dad loved to learn, taking many courses like reflexology, private investigation, and refrigeration. Dad ultimately chose a career in Power engineering where he spent 21 years at the Winnipeg Cold Storage and 18 years at Granny’s Poultry in Blumenort, MB, where he retired in 1990.
To keep himself busy, Dad enjoyed working in the yard, growing grapes, strawberries, and canning fruits and vegetables. When Dad wasn’t working in the yard or his garden, he was driving to visit friends and family. Dad was very active within the family, lending a hand wherever possible. Dad had a great sense of humor and was always smiling. He will be greatly missed by us all.
John’s funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Highway 52W, Steinbach, MB, with a viewing prior to the service. The Interment will follow at the Heritage Cemetery, 385 Loewen Boulevard, Steinbach, MB.
The family would like to thank all the staff who cared for him, while at home and during his stay on the Medicine unit at Bethesda Regional Health Centre Steinbach, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the charity of your choice.
