Elizabeth (Neufeld) Torhjelm, born in Carberry, Manitoba, on May 15, 1952, passed away suddenly but peacefully in her home on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
Liz lived free and set apart. From her unique wardrobe to her short, often spiked hair, to the way she was adventurous with food and would quickly become a special part of people’s lives, she was different. She didn’t quickly commit herself to any one person or group. She didn’t want comfort and familiarity as much as she wanted to follow God wherever He would lead her.
And as He led, she followed. Her life has been one long adventurous walk with God.
She is survived by her son Jonathan, her siblings: John (Anne) Neufeld, Sharon (Harv) Dyck, Barb (Dave), Irene (John) Kroeker, Judy (John) Friesen, Jane (Gary) Friesen; her mother-in-law Olive Torhjelm and sister-in-law Valerie, as well as her step-father Henry Lepp and his family, Irma (Walt) Bartel, Dennis (Annie) Lepp, Jack (Paula) Lepp, Steve (Audra) Lepp, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband Roger, her father John C. Neufeld, mother Anna (Neufeld, Enns, Lepp), brother Peter Neufeld, and step-father Jacob Enns.
Following cremation and a private family interment, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
