PETER NEUFELD
May 6, 1940 – April 8, 2016

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of an incredible man. A husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend...Peter Neufeld.

This world was blessed with our Dad’s presence for 75 years. Dad was born on May 6, 1940 to Henry & Gertrude Neufeld at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Dad was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Bishop Peter Falk on June 11, 1962.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary, with whom he was blessed to have had over 54 years together which included having 6 children; three sons and three daughters.

Jake & Martha Neufeld (Terry & Kyra- Sophie, Jennifer, Zackary, Mathias, Raelyn); John Neufeld; Ben & Colleen Neufeld (Tayleigh & Lataysha); Clara & Ben Doerksen (Caitlin & Kevin, Breanna, Keith, Makyla); Elma Giesbrecht (Kelsey, Kristen, Madison, Morgan, Shaelyn, Kern); Edna & Henry Heinrichs (Alexis).

He was predeceased by his parents Henry & Gertrude Neufeld, two brothers, one sister, and two brothers-in-law. He leaves to cherish three brothers, two sisters and their families.

Dad was a hardworking, honourable man, who taught us that the greatest life value was family. He worked as a store manager in Paraguay until their move to Canada in 1981. He worked at Southeast Forest Products in Blumenort until his early retirement in 2002, after being diagnosed with lung cancer. His medical prognosis for survival was not good, however he proved that God was the ultimate physician and he became the exception, as he did many times over. His physical body often failed him, but the strength of his love for his family and God's help pulled him through events doctors couldn't medically explain. He was living proof that miracles still happen.

Peacefully with his family by his side, amid songs of praise Dad went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 8:40 a.m. at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

Dad leaves behind an incredible legacy which we love and thank him for.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith"

The Neufeld family wishes to say thank-you to all the family & friends for the prayer support and expressions of sympathy they have received. They also want to express their deepest appreciation for the staff at Bethesda Hospital and at St Boniface Hospital for their excellent care during Dad's final hours.

Viewing will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, and also at the church prior to the service.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church, with interment at the church cemetery.
