Dad was born to John and Margaret Nickel on June 10, 1927 in Paraguay. The family moved to Plum Coulee, Manitoba when dad was about 10 months old and later moved to Roseau River.
Dad was baptized on the confession of his faith on May 27, 1945 at the Stuartburn Sommerfeld Church.
Dad and mom married on August 4, 1946 and together they farmed for a total of 65 years near Stuartburn, Manitoba. When dad was 59 years old, they sold the dairy cows, which allowed them to semi retire. In 2012 they sold the farm and moved to Vita, Manitoba.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Vita hospital for the excellent care they provided to dad. We also thank the friends and neighbors from the Vita community for the help that they provided by taking mom to and from the hospital.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 14th at 2:00pm at the New Bothell Sommerfeld Church with burial at Stuartburn Sommerfeld Mennonite Church Cemetery. Viewing will be at the Church 1 hour prior to the service.
