PETER ALEXANDER EDWARD BROESKY
July 11, 1931 - January 20, 2016
Peter Alexander Edward Broesky was born on July 11, 1931 in the RM of Hanover, Manitoba, passed into eternity peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba.
He married Agatha Vogt on March 16, 1951 in Giroux, Manitoba. They were married for 51 years and were blessed with nine children, of which two died in infancy.
Peter held a variety of occupations in his early years, though most will know him as Pastor Peter Broesky. He gave his life to the Lord at the age of 24 and never wavered in his faith from that point on. His lengthier ministerial positions included 15 years as a pastor in the Chortitzer Mennonite Conference, 10 years as pastor of Calvary Chapel in Steinbach, and 16 years as pastor of Gospel Chapel in La Broquerie. After retirement as a full-time pastor, his work for the Lord continued locally, provincially, nationally and internationally. Peter’s last project was writing his autobiography, titled The Journey of the Seventh Son, and shortly thereafter the Lord took him home. Peter was gracious, humble, steadfast, generous, joyful and hard-working, amongst so many other admirable qualities which left a notable impact on those who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by seven children and their families: Allen (Sharon) Broesky and Gerry Broesky, Elaine (John) Warkentin, Myrna Penner, Greg Penner, Karen (Jack) Martens, Teresa (Eric) Wiens, Beverly Friesen, and Barron Friesen. He is also survived by sisters: Susie (Ike) Zacharias and Lenore Gauthier; brothers: Ed (Margaret) Broesky and George Broesky; and sisters-in law: Mary Broesky, Joyce Beck and Agathe Broesky.
He was predeceased by his wife Agatha, daughter Laura, son Marvin, daughter-in-law Diane (Gerry’s wife), his parents: Abram and Maria (Dueck) Broesky, seven brothers and six sisters.
The funeral service was held on Monday, 11:00AM, January 25, 2016 at Southland Church, 190 Highway 52 West, Steinbach, Manitoba, with the viewing prior to the service. The interment took place at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, Manitoba.
If friends so desire, donation in memory of Peter may be made to the Gospel Outreach for Cuba, Box 178, Steinbach, MB, R5G 1M2.
