KATHERINE (KAY) KLASSEN
(nee FRIESEN, KORNELSEN)

It is with deep sadness, yet great joy, that we announce the passing of Katherine (Kay) Klassen, (nee Friesen, Kornelsen), our mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at The Menno Home For The Aged, Grunthal, MB.

Kay is survived by her husband, John D. Klassen, five children and 16 grandchildren: Larry (Maxine) and their children: Cynthia (Justin), Tyler (Kaitlin), and Landon (Evelin); Marvin (Shirley) and their children: Brett (Whitney), Jordan, Brody, and Celeste (Josiah); Raymond (Sue) and their children: Tara (Steve), Taylan (Sydney), and Kylie; Sheryl (George) and their children: Kahlia, Quinton, Kasdan, and Janaye (Dalton); and Julie and her children Ashton and Shaneika, and their father Brett; and eight great-grandchildren. Kay is also survived by four brothers and six sisters: Mary (Bill) Neufeld, Susan (Victor) Klassen, Nelson (Katherine) Friesen, Leona (Jake) Janzen, Anne (Alvin) Kroeker, Jake (Jay) (Irene) Friesen, Abe (Marlene) Friesen, Willie (Marilyn) Friesen, Erna (Bill) Snowdan, and Evelyn (Gil) Wiebe; and numerous sisters and brothers - in-law. Kay was blessed with six step-children and their families.

Kay was predeceased by her first husband, Jake Kornelsen, her parents, Henry and Mary Friesen, brother David Friesen, two sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.

The family is so thankful for the loving care that was given to our Mother by the Menno Home staff. It is very much appreciated and will not be forgotten.

A come and go viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 West, Steinbach, MB. There will also be a viewing at the church prior to the funeral service.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Grunthal Bergthaler Mennonite Church, 101 Southwood St., Grunthal, MB. Burial will follow at Grunthal Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations in memory of Kay may be made to the Menno Home Foundation, Box 280, Grunthal, MB, R0A 0R0.
