ANNE MRIE SCHALLA
1933 to 2015

Anne Marie passed away around 11:30 p.m. on Friday July 31, after a peaceful day and long loving visit with her husband Henry at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach where she resided since having a stroke August 29, 2014.

Predeased by her parents Rudolf and Olga Schnellert, and mother and father in-law Nathalie & John W. Schalla, brother Fred, sisters-in-law: Alvina, Helen, Mary, and Pauline, Brothers-in-law: Elvin, Abe, Phil, Freddy, Gus, Johnny, Emil, and Reinhardt.

Anne Marie was born on August 10, 1933 to Rudolph and Olga Schnellert (nee Piel) in the R.M. of Hanover, near Steinbach. Anne Marie, as she likes to be known, was the second daughter in what was to become a family of six children.

Anne Marie was baptized as an infant at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Friedensfeld, was confirmed at age 14, and became a lifelong member, attending weekly. She sang in the choir for 58 years, loved bible study. She was active in the Women’s Evangelical group, serving in the roles of secretary, assembling layette kits, fundraising for Canadian Lutheran Relief and Operation Christmas Child Boxes, and canvassing for charities.

Anne Marie will be most missed by her husband Henry Streich Schalla; sons Allen (Malvine), Boyd (Donna) and grandchildren Jeff, Janel, and Stacey, siblings Ida Kisser, Harold (Wendy), Lena (Art) Borkowski, Arnie (Hilla), as well as many dear neighbors, friends and family.

A Celebration Of Life will be held on Thursday August 6, 2015 at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, MB at 3:00 p.m. Interment is to follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, #12 Hwy South.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Anne to the St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St, Steinbach, MB R5G 0H1.
