DAVE REMPEL
On Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the age of 71, Dave Rempel of Steinbach, formerly of Mexico, peacefully went into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, at his home and surrounded by his family.
In addition to his beloved wife of 49 years, Margaret Rempel , Dave leaves behind to grieve him: son Neil and Rose Rempel (Stephany, Victoria, Micayla and Jaryn Friesen); daughter Irma Rempel; son Frank and Hanh Rempel (Jackson, Dylan); daughter Martha and Will Clark (Gina, Silas); daughter Evy and Rod Wiebe (Emma, Julia, Katrina, Samuel); daughter Norma and Ben Sullivan (Evanesce); daughter Theressa and Greg Vogt (Madelyn, Zachary, Owen); and two brothers and six sisters and their families.
Dave was born on June 5, 1944 in Chihuahua, Mexico, the first surviving child in his family. He was a fun-loving mischievous boy who enjoyed his childhood and developed a love of driving at a young age. Guided by his earnest faith and a love for Jesus, he was baptized. Shortly after, he married his best friend, Margaret Froese on February 20, 1966. They moved to Pinewood, Ontario, Canada with four children in 1972. Here they had three more children. During this time, they had a small farm and Dave began trucking for Emo Feeds. In 1985, they moved to Steinbach, Manitoba where Dave worked for Penner International for more than 25 years. He took great pride in working hard and doing his job well, as he drove over four million miles during his lifetime.
Dave’s adventurous spirit, exceeding generosity and positive outlook was an inspiration to many. He was always willing to go the extra mile, for family and strangers alike. He was frequently seen in his white cowboy hat with his thumbs up. The stories he shared of his crazy antics provided many laughs. Using any one of his four fluent languages, the punch line was delivered in the language that made it the funniest, which was usually Low German.
The Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m., with the devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, MB. There will also be a viewing at the chapel prior to the service.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 10, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with interment at Heritage Cemetery.
Dave lived life to the fullest, he will be dearly missed.
