Jacob S. Rempel went to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 70 years and 4 months on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 5:10 p.m. at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB.
Jacob was born on January 9, 1945 to Willy K. and Helena Rempel in the RM of Tache, MB. At the age of three, he moved with his family to Paraguay. On May 30, 1966, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith. Jake married his love, Helena Bergen on October 21, 1971 in Colony Bergthal, Paraguay. While in Paraguay, they were blessed with two sons and five daughters (one died in infancy). In 1981, they moved to Manitoba where they were blessed with two more sons. Dad and Mom shared and enjoyed 43 wonderful years, 6 months and 18 days together.
He was predeceased by his parents Willie K. and Helena Rempel of Paraguay, one brother, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
He is survived by his wife Helena and their eight children: Anna (Jake) Krahn of La Crete, Alberta, Peter (Nancy) Rempel of Grunthal, Ken (Anna) Rempel of Kleefeld, Marlene (Ernie) Harder of Sarto, Jenneth (Harry) Hildebrand of Kleefeld, Shirley (Jake) Dyck of Kleefeld, Brian (Betty) Rempel of Roseau River and Stan (Anna) Rempel of Pansy. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn one brother and four sisters in Paraguay, SA and one sister in Kentucky, USA, along with their families, including many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church, New Bothwell, MB. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank you for all your prayers, support and encouragement during this difficult time.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to help with the funeral expenses.
