KATIE REIMER
Katie Reimer (nee Friesen), passed away April 14, 2015, at the age of 87, at Ste. Anne Hospital.
She was born to the late Paul and Maria Friesen on October 7, 1927, in Ile des Chenes, MB. Katie met Arlie Reimer at a church function and they were married August 10, 1947. They were blessed with three daughters.
In her early years, she taught school and worked as a telephone operator. Later she opened a fabric store in Steinbach as her passion was sewing. She started sewing at a young age and did many custom dresses and alternations. Later her interest turned to ceramics and porcelain dolls. She made quite a few which she gave to her daughters and grandchildren.
Katie was predeceased by her husband Arlie, one son-in-law John Friesen, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
She is survived by: her daughters Karen (Gene) Entz, Chris Friesen, and Coralie (Melvin) Brown; 11 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to the staff at St. Boniface Dialysis Unit and the Ste. Anne Hospital.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. Burial followed at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Katie may be made to Kidney Foundation of Canada (Manitoba Branch), The CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba and Canadian Diabetes Association (MB Branch).
