JOYCE MARIE GRIER
(nee MacLennan)
1926 - 2015
Peacefully and with family by her side, Joyce Grier, age 88, passed away on February 25, 2015, following a fall in her home followed by health complications.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill in 2000, by her parents William and Lenora MacLennan, and by her sister Clara Ramsey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her six children and their spouses, Cheryl (Earl), Terry (Marlene), Pat (Garry), Chris (Daphne), Greg and Russ (Carol); 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Joyce and Bill worked together farming in Woodmore until summer of 1999 when Bill was forced to retire due to cancer.
Joyce loved the farm and community and was a member of the Woodmore, W.I., a leader in the 4-H clothing club, and actively involved in community events in Woodmore and surrounding area. She worked for a time at the Co-op grocery store in Dominion City and at the Ridgeville Club. While in Emerson she enjoyed many friendships and was active in the United Church, and at the Horizons as a member, playing crib and shuffleboard. She enjoyed living in her residence in Emerson and took great pride planting her new flowers and vegetables every spring in her little gardens.
As a family we are so thankful for our time with Mom and her loving, kind, gentle and happy spirit.
Our thanks to the nursing staff at Morris Hospital for their care in Joyce’s last days.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Joyce will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm. at Greenridge United Church, Greenridge, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenridge United Church Memorial Fund.
