Mary Rempel Friesen went to be with her Saviour and Lord on Friday, February 20, 2015, at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by: daughter, Mary (Robert) Hink of Phoenix, AZ, son, Peter of Chestermere, AB, daughter, Bettie (Allen) Toews of Steinbach, son, John (Barbara) of Silberfeld, son, Jacob of Enderby, BC, daughter, Agnes (Ray) Wolgemuth of Steinbach, son, Marty of Steinbach, son, Neil (Wendy) of Niverville, daughter, Kathy Friesen (Edwin) of Kenora, ON, 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She leaves her two brothers: Ben (Evelyn) of BC, Albert (Louella) of AB, and one sister-in-law, Maria Friesen of Steinbach.
She was predeceased by her husband Martin (1986), her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Mary was born on July 1, 1926 in Silberfeld to Jacob and Elizabeth Rempel (nee Krause). She grew up on her parent’s farm in Silberfeld until she married Martin N. Friesen on October 26, 1945.They lived with his parents and then they moved to Silberfeld. In 1949, they purchased the local store, where they operated it until Martin passed away. In 1986, she moved to Steinbach, where she resided until her passing. She enjoyed gardening, volunteering at the MCC, and traveling to visit her family.
A funeral service will be held on Wed., Feb. 25 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with interment at the Silberfeld Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee.
