MAGGIE BORDUN
On February 17, with her family at her side, Maggie Bordun,(nee Makowsky) 82, of Sundown, MB, peacefully left us at Bethesda Hospital to be forever with Jesus. We witnessed as Maggie fearlessly displayed her unwaivering faith on her journey. We continue to trust God that Mom is pain free, whole and in perfect peace forever.
Remaining to forever cherish Maggie's memory are her children: Robert (Leona), Gary (Brigitte), Laurie Kutzak (Ken), Gene (Jessica), and Judy Ascoli (Bruce); grandchildren: Craig, Tyler (Kacey), Kimberly-Ann, Amanda-Lee (Brenden), Travis (Amber), Bradley, Brennan, Brooklyn, Sheradin, and Braeden; sisters: Helen Derewianchuk & Marie Bugera, brother Nick Makowsky (Molly), sisters-in-law: Anne Makowsky, Lillian Foster, Kay Pietarinen, Ann Lebonte, brothers-in-law: Bob (Magda) Bordun, and Kenneth Benson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Nykola and Anna Makowsky, husband John, brother Bill Makowsky, brothers-in-law: Peter Bugera Matt Derewianchuk, Joe Lebonte, Paul Bordun, and Bill Bordun, sisters-in-law: Dorothy Lobb, Mary Rempel, Shirley Bozyk, Nettie Benson, and Pearl Paci and several nieces and nephews.
Maggie was born and raised in Sirko, MB on April 18, 1932. She married John in October 1955. Together they raised their family in Sundown. Maggie and John's love and adoration for each other was an inspiration to us all; married for 52 years until John's sudden passing in 2008. In addition to being a homemaker, Maggie held a position as Postmistress in Sundown and later a Housekeeping/Laundry Aide at Vita & District Health Center. She loved children and gladly stepped into the role of a 4-H Leader in the area. Maggie loved her family unconditionally and was always there for them. We were especially glad that she could retire as then she had even more time to spend with family. Baba enjoyed attending church, family activities, tending to a large garden & flowers, cooking, making perogies for sale and attending her grandchildren's sports events. My how fortunate we were to have a praying Mother! We easily saw Jesus in her life as well as in her peaceful passing. Her smile, selfless personality, infectious laugh, perogies and cabbage rolls will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Maggie's Life will be held on Monday, February 23 at 11 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 West, Steinbach, MB. Interment will take place at Caliento National Cemetery following the service and lunch.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Maggie's memory to Vita Bible Church, P.O. Box 306, Vita, MB ROA 2K0.
Maggie's family want to thank everyone who has through prayer lifted us up into the glorious presence of our God & Father who is the only One who can comfort & give peace during Our Mom's final days & the days to come.
