LEONARD WIEBE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard on February 13, 2015 at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife Jessie of 58 years; one son: Ken (Sherri), three daughters: Janice, Karen (Abe), Marge (George), one son-in-law: Gerry Broesky; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
He was predeceased by one son David in 2010, one daughter Diane in 2013, his parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Leonard was born May 9, 1936. In his younger years, he was a Sunday school teacher, an usher, and was also involved in other church activity. Dad also played football, baseball, and he was a huge fan of watching hockey in person, but in his later years, he watched it on TV. For most of his life, he was a truck driver, driving for various trucking companies and owning his own highway tractor for some of those years. At the age of 55, Leonard could no longer work due to health issues that disabled him. That did not stop him from enjoying his grandkids and great grandkids. He had a love for them that was very special.
The family would like to thank Dr. Krahn and the caring staff at cancer care and Dr. Ilchyna and the compassionate nurses at Bethesda Hospital for making Leonard’s life as comfortable as possible.
The funeral service for Leonard will be held on Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB, with interment at the Heritage Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Health – Sante Sud (designated to Cancer Care) Box 470, La Broquerie, MB R0A 0W0.
