OLGA MELNYCHUK
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Olga Melnychuk (Baba). She was born in Arbakka, Manitoba on November 14, 1931 and passed on Monday February 9th, 2015 at Bethesda hospital. She was 83 years old. During her courageous fight with lymphoma, it was discovered that she was winning. However, complications not associated with her cancer left her with little fight left.
Olga leaves to mourn her daughter Sylvia (Orest); grandchildren Crystal (Darren), Kevin, Tracy (David); great-grandchildren Jaxen, Keilee, and Lennox; and brother Bill, all of whom she cherished deeply. She is predeceased by her mother Oksana, father Thedosie, her husband Nick and son Edward.
Despite her illness, her thoughts were always of others. She was grateful for every blessing in life.
Olga had a long teaching career with Boundary school division in Vita, MB. and she was an avid volunteer in both her church and community. Everyone who knew her will remember her as a very generous, kind and intelligent woman.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Cancer Care, especially Bev and Lynn who made her visits there as comfortable as possible.
Although she loved flowers with a passion, they are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in her name to Cancer Care.
Prayers will be held at Birchwood funeral chapel on Sunday February 15th at 7:00pm, with viewing to start at 6:30 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday February 16th, 2015 at 10:30am at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W., Steinbach MB. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Arbakka.
"Those we love do not go away, they walk beside us every day."
