OTILIA KIESMAN
(nee Meisner)

July 15, 1923 – January 7, 2015

It is with mixed feelings we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, Otilia Kiesman, on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in her place of residence, Golden Links Lodge – at their temporary location at River Ridge Retirement Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 91 years.

Remaining to cherish Otilia’s memory are her children, Bev (Roy), Connie, Oarval (Sharon), Darlene (Lloyd), and Judy (Gil); 13 grandchildren, Vern, Tammy, Tim, Michelle (Bentley), Corin, David (Franka), Ryan (Kristi), Adam, Lloyd (Mary-Ann), Kelsey, Lindsey (Brad), Christine (Cory), Michael (Michelle); 21 great-grandchildren, Haley, Cameron, Parker, Alana, Dylan, Kara, Natasha, Tyson, Austin, Corisa, Nicholas, Bre-Anne (Tim), Bryden, Dayton, Mason, Kaiden, Gabriel, Jacob, Kallie, Kamryn, and Karys; two great-great-grandchildren Kashlynn and Ryder; sisters Lydia, Helen, Myrtle, and Alvina (Gerald); brothers Harry (Helen), Alfred (Rose Mary), and Richard; as well as sisters-in-law, Helen, Jackie, and Runi. She was predeceased by her husband Fred in 2002; her father Emil in 1988, and her mother Emma in 1993; as well as siblings Eddie, Martha, Elsie, Billy, Carl, Ernie, Peter, Reinhold, and Raymond.

On July 15, 1923, Tillie was born in Moosehorn, Manitoba, where she worked in her dad’s store. On November 6, 1943, Tillie married the love of her life, Fred. Mom and Dad lived all of their married lives in Winnipeg and Marchand, Manitoba. It was while they lived in Marchand that Mom fulfilled her passion for gardening. It was not uncommon for strangers driving by her yard to stop and admire her flowers. As much as Mom loved gardening, her family was her greatest passion. Mom always made herself available to care for any member of her family. Mom also enjoyed caring for her day-care family when she worked at Kinder Korner and Steinbach Kinsmen Day Nursery, where she was known as Grandma Tillie.

A Celebration of Tillie’s Life will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, MB, with Deacon Kris Taylor, presider. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the Service.

We would like to thank the staff and care givers from Golden Links Lodge, and especially Joyce Cougnon for her friendship and companionship.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Kiesman, Vern Gall, Bentley Coates, Ryan Kiesman, Michael Turenne, Cory Gerbrandt, Brad Pfiefer, and great-grandson Mason Kellett.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Tillie’s memory to the Faith Lutheran Memorial Fund, 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2N 1V8.
