It is with sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Badiuk on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Poseidon Care Centre in Winnipeg.
Bill will be missed by his son Nick and daughter Eileen (Drew Johnston), brothers Jack and Dennis (Sonia), sisters Joyce Myshkowsky (Boris) and Jeanne McCauley, sisters in law Margaret Wolfe and Nell Chobotar (Martin), brother in law John Nykyforchyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Elsie (nee Nykyforchyn), father William Kozma Badiuk, mother Mary (nee Denischuk), sister’s Olga Irving and Doreen Perry, and nephew Robert Irving.
Bill was born in Winnipeg, MB August 8, 1930, but spent much of his childhood on the family farm near Gardenton, MB. He moved back to Winnipeg in his early 20s and was later hired by the Canadian National Railway where he worked until his retirement in 1992.
Bill loved to travel and with his wife Elsie at his side, made numerous trips across Canada, the US, and overseas. He was happiest behind the wheel of a vehicle with a cup of coffee close at hand.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10:00am at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Road.
Special thanks to Aunt Marge for the friendship and care she extended to Bill over the years. Thanks also to the staff of Poseidon Care Centre who cared for and assisted Bill during his two year residency.
