It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Gerbrandt (Nee Peters) on November 20, 2014. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Gary) and their children Michael (Samantha) and Jonathon; son-in-law Murray Schroeder and his children Michael and Nichole, two brothers and two sisters.
Mom was born in Steinbach on September 20, 1927 to Henry H. and Anna Peters. The family lived in Steinbach for some time then moved to a property just south of Steinbach. Here she spent many days helping on the farm. She was able to take a sewing course and became an amazing seamstress. She married Harry Gerbrandt in June of 1952 and had two daughters, Sharon and Brenda. Mom enjoyed gardening and various crafts such as sewing and knitting. She enjoyed a wide range of music from the Mamas and the Papas to Pavarotti. When Dad passed away she moved into Steinbach and really grew to love her apartment. Brenda’s passing made life even lonelier. Her health continued to decline and in early 2011 she moved to the St. Adolphe Personal Care Home. In November of the same year she was able to move to Rest Haven. She really enjoyed the hymn singing times and would not miss going if her health permitted. We want to thank all the staff for the excellent care Mom received.
The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Saturday November 22, 2014 with burial following at the Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, Man.
