William N. (Bill) Friesen, 64, of Steinbach, formerly of Grunthal, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
He is survived by his wife Jean, daughters Adriane (Rich), and Skyler (Fadi), son Blake, step-daughters Val (Eric), and Tracy (friend Mike), step-sons Brian (Lori) and Randy, and seven grandchildren: Alyssa, Serena, Myla, Leo, Shawn, Ashley and Kayla. Bill is also survived by his sister Jessie Braun, five of his brothers, Dick, Jake, Abe (Martha), Neil (Susan), Ben (Grace) and sisters-in-law Margaret and Nettie. He was predeceased by his parents John T. and Justina Friesen, his brothers John, George, and Peter, brother-in-law Bill Braun, and sisters-in-law Sarah, Ellie and Maxine.
Dad was a very active person who loved the country life. His working years included various jobs, including dairy farming before becoming a flooring installer superstar and chicken farmer extraordinaire.
He loved to BBQ chicken, invent things, build a snow palace (every year!), rollerblade, play Frisbee, badminton, hockey and many other sports. His sense of humor carried him until the end. He was very positive throughout this courageous but terrible battle with ALS.
We would like to sincerely thank Drs. Kaethler and Reimer, the staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, the staff at the palliative care program, and the homecare workers for the excellent care they provided to both our Dad and our family.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Rest in Peace.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elim Mennonite Church, Grunthal, MB. Burial will follow at Grunthal Cemetery.
