Marlene Joyce Klassen, 69, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 17, 2014 surrounded by her family that loved her, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her devoted husband Jacob, son Anthony (Luana), grandchildren Connor, Brennan, and Nicole, son Vincent, daughter Julie (Darren), granddaughter Mairead, and sisters Milly and Vange and their families. She will be dearly missed by all the people she touched throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her parents Anne and David, her sisters Rose Gail and Grace, and brother Francis.
Marlene's life was a life of quiet influence, from her marriage of 49 years, her years working side by side with her husband in the family upholstery business, to her lifelong commitment to prayer ministries and mentoring women. Her relationships didn't always run wide, but the people she impacted, she impacted deeply. And above all that, was the influence she had on her children. They were the highlight of her life.
The family would like to thank all the friends, family and healthcare professionals who took such good care of Marlene during her final days.
The funeral service was held on Sept. 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Southland Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marlene may be made to Camper's Scholarships for Bird River Bible Camp, a ministry of Southland Church. (Cheques may be written out to: Southland Church; Box 219, Steinbach, Manitoba, R5G 1M2)
