It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jim, on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the age of 86 years.
He leaves to mourn his: devoted wife of 68 years, Jean; two children: Bev (Brian) Watts of Stonewall and Barbie (Ray) Marsh of Mannville, Alberta and son-in-law Harry Harder of Cremona, Alberta. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Brenda Harder and numerous brothers and sisters.
Jim was born on September 14, 1927 in Gladstone, Manitoba. He and his family moved to Winnipeg in 1950 and he worked for the Parks and Recreation division of the City of Winnipeg for 30 years as the maintenance man. He also enjoyed a family business for a few years giving pony and hay rides at Assiniboine Park and Polo Park. His hobbies included camping and carpentry.
Jean and all the family would like to thank all the friends of Paradise Village for their help through the last 20 plus years.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, their new location at 162 Highway 52 West, Steinbach, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be sent to the Manitoba Lung Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba.
