ERDMAN REMPEL

The life of Erdman Rempel began on August 15, 1930. He lived with his parents Erdman J. Rempel and Anna Dueck Rempel on a farm North East of Morden, Manitoba. It was at the Morden Bergthaler Church that he was baptized on the confession of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour and Lord.

Dad and Mom were married on Oct 4, 1951 at the Winkler Bergthaler Church. They started their life together in Winnipeg. After 10 years of city dwelling, Dad and Mom had an opportunity to start farming and moved their family to a small farm near Niverville. Dad’s hard work and creative ingenuity allowed him to perform many trades on his farm. He was a plumber, electrician, construction worker, and a mechanic. He was always finding ways to better his farm and he allowed his children and grandchildren to develop their work habits also. We were all employed by Dad gathering eggs at some point and had opportunity to help out with other projects on the farm.

Dad and Mom made two more moves in their life together. The first move was in 1999 as they retired from the farm life into a house in Niverville and again in 2012 to Bridge Park Manor in Steinbach, where Mom is currently residing. Each move was difficult, but with prayer and support around them they adjusted well and were able to make new memories.

Dad had a love for music and in their retirement years, Dad and Mom were able to join the Keenagers choir which they participated in for 13 years. Dad also enjoyed travelling, camping and holidaying with his family. Dad loved being on the road and was always a willing driver to help anyone out.

Dad made time for his family. They were important to him. He was a wonderful spouse, father, an amazing Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. Dad you will be missed.

On July 16, 2014 at the age of 83, Dad went home to be with Jesus.

Ed is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Helen Rempel, his children: Lloyd (Ruth), Diane (Erwin), Murray (Emily) and Glenn (Sheila); his grandchildren: Jeremy (Tara), Trevor, Theresa (Graeme), Jodi (Malte), Bonnie, Heidi (Travis), Nicholas, Elena, Christine (Steve), Michelle (Brad), and Brent; and by 11 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by four sisters and one brother.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Fourth Avenue Bible Church, Niverville, Manitoba, with burial at Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville.
