MARGARET BERGMANN

On Wednesday, in the early evening, just before the supper hour, the Lord was in His garden gathering flowers. He needed a very special rose to complete His bouquet. He chose our Mother, our Oma. Mom was born on August 12th, 1926 to Rev. Abram A. and Elizabeth Regehr. With family at her bedside, she passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the Rest Haven Nursing Home.

In her youth, she received Christ as her personal Saviour at an evangelistic meeting. Later she was baptized upon confession of faith by her father and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in Steinbach.

Mom "met" our Dad, Abe Bergmann, for the first time at the age of 3, when they were out picking flowers together! From the age of 16, our Dad always said that he knew in his heart that Mom was the girl for him! He placed a ring on her finger on March 19, 1946 and they were married on October 13th of the same year. Together they raised a family of two children, John and Irene. Mom and Dad were lifelong partners in a marriage of almost 50 years. Morn was a wonderful mother to us and a partner with Dad in the business. She managed to find a perfect balance between them both.

Mom and Dad were always a team! They started their abattoir while living on the Chaput farm in Ste. Anne but in 1957, moved their fledgling business to Blumenort and together built Bergmann Meat Products. She worked tirelessly by his side, never complaining about the long hours.

After retiring from the business, they built a small farm near Ste. Anne. They enjoyed the peace and quiet on the farm. Dad was diagnosed with cancer in 1994. When Dad realized he was terminal, he thought it best to move Mom to Steinbach to be closer to her sisters. They moved in February of 1996 and Dad lost his battle with cancer on August 25th of the same year. She moved to Fernwood Place in December of 2002 and made this her home until August of last year when she moved to the Rest Haven Nursing Home.

After Dad passed away in 1996, this left a tremendous void in Mom's life but she was determined to keep the family unit going. Mom was the "glue" that kept our family strong. Her greatest joy was in the lives of her family. She loved and lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was our daily prayer warrior and showered us with tangible gifts of love and kindness. She encouraged us often with a fist pump and the phrase "KEEP ON KEEPING ON".

Left to cherish and honour her memory are: her children: John Edward
(Margaret Rose) Bergmann and Irene Louise (Gerald Giesbrecht); grandchildren: Derik (Roanne) Bergmann, Tanya (Jared) Hiebert, Christine (Bradley) Bohn, and Ryan Giesbrecht; great-grandchildren Griffin and Kadri Bergmann and Meagan and Josh Hiebert. She is also survived by two sisters: Tina and Anne, and four Bergmann siblings.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Abe; 15 Regehr family members and 12 Bergmann family members.

"MEMORY IS A GARDEN WHERE YESTERDAY CONTINUES TO BLOSSOM & LOVE CONTINUES TO GROW"

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church, with viewing prior to the service. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
