CORNELIUS KEHLER

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Cornelius Kehler, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. at Heritage Life Personal Care Home, Niverville, MB.

Our dad was born in Rosengard, Manitoba on January 26, 1920. He moved together with his parents to Paraguay in 1927. He grew up in Ebenfeld, where he met his first wife Maria. Mom and Dad were married on July 15, 1941. Together they had 17 children. They immigrated to Canada on June 21, 1969.

Dad was predeceased by: his first wife Maria (nee Unrau) on August 29, 1992, two sons: Johann and Rudolf; one daughter Wanda, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, one son-in-law, his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Dad married his second wife, Susana (Sawatzky) in November 1997.

Dad is survived by: his second wife Susana, his children: Anna (Bill) Krahn in Niverville, Tina (Cornelius) Wiebe in Paraguay, Jake (Mika) Kehler in Niverville, Erdmann (Margareta) Kehler in St. Clement, Peter (Lisa) Kehler in Niverville, Hilda (Peter) Harder in New Bothwell, Olga (Cornelius-deceased) Giesbrecht in Paraguay, Sara (Dietrich) Dueck in Oakbank, Willie (Mathilda) Kehler in Niverville, Martha (Anton) Bergen in Winnipeg, Anton (Yvonne) Kehler in Winnipeg, Herta (Ron) Albo in Winnipeg, Herbert Kehler in Halifax, and Adina (Jeff) Kroeker in Winnipeg; 41 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Dad also leaves behind: two sisters and one brother in Paraguay as well as two brothers in Niverville.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Niverville Chortitzer Mennonite Church, viewing at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Niverville, MB.
