HELEN FRIESEN
Peacefully, on Sunday, June 15, 2014, our mother went to her eternal home, with some of her children at her side at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba. She reached the age of 93 years and 10 months.
Mom was born August 23, 1920 in the RM of Morris to Abram and Agatha Dyck. She was baptized on the confession of her faith on May 27, 1939 in the Wiedenfeld CMC.
Left to cherish her memory are: six daughters: Annie (Henry) VanKoeveringe, Mary (John) Zacharias, Sarah (Abe) Bergen, Betty (Jake) Wiebe, Helen (John) Bergen, and Joyce Purchase; three sons: John (Linda), Jake (Mary), and Abe (Margaret); 29 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, one brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Cornelius, one son Cornie, one daughter Linda, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one son-in-law John Fehr.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. There will also be a time of viewing at the church prior to the funeral service.
The funeral service for Helen Friesen will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Grunthal Bergthaler Mennonite Church, with burial to follow at Grunthal Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the home care staff at Greendale Estate as well as the caring staff at Bethesda Hospital.
