LEO GAGNON

It is with great sadness that the Gagnon family wishes to announce the passing of Léo Gagnon, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at St. Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

Léo leaves in mourning: his loving wife Alice, sons : Ernest (Linda), Jean (Barbara), Marcel (Murielle), Paul (Cynthia), and Robert (Ginette); daughters : Claire (Doug) and Lilianne (Dave); 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, eight brothers and one sister. Léo was predeceased by three sisters. Léo was born in Giroux, Manitoba, on June 16th 1930.

Léo met his loving wife of nearly 63 years on the steps of the La Broquerie church. They married November 6th, 1951 and moved to St-Laurent to start their family. From there, they moved to St-Boniface where Léo worked at Supercrete for nine years. In 1962, they moved to La Broquerie to start their own farm. It is there that Léo and Alice decided to finish raising their family and where they resided together until now.

Alice and family would like to sincerely thank the emergency staff of the Steinbach Bethesda hospital and the staff of the ICU at St-Boniface hospital. Also, a special thanks to the Steinbach Cancercare personnel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer foundation and/or the Heart and Stroke foundation.

Funeral service will be held Friday June 13th, 11 :00 a.m. at Christ Our Saviour Catholic Church, Steinbach, with interment to follow at the La Broquerie cemetery. Viewing will be held at the church prior to the service.


C’est avec beaucoup de tristesse que la famille Gagnon annonce le décès de Léo Gagnon, un mari dévoué, un père, un grand-père et un arrière-grand-père. Léo laisse en deuil son épouse aimante Alice, ses fils Ernest (Linda), Jean (Barbara), Marcel (Murielle), Paul (Cynthia), Robert (Ginette), ses filles, Claire (Doug), Lilianne (Dave), ses 19 petits-enfants, 34 arrières petits-enfants, 1 arrière arrière petit-enfant, 8 frères et une sœur.

Léo est prédécédé par 3 sœurs. Né à Giroux, Manitoba, le 16 juin 1930, Léo rencontra son épouse de près de 63 ans sur les marches de l’église à La Broquerie. Ils furent mariés le 6 novembre 1951 et sont déménagés à St-Laurent pour commencer leur famille.

De là, ils déménagèrent à St-Boniface où Léo travailla à Supercrete pour 9 ans. En 1962, ils déménagèrent à La Broquerie afin d’établir une ferme. C’est ici qu’ils finirent d’élever leur famille et où ils demeurèrent jusqu’à aujourd’hui.

Alice et la famille aimeraient remercier sincèrement le personnel d’urgence à l’hôpital Bethesda de Steinbach et le personnel des soins intensifs à l’hôpital de St-Boniface. De plus, un grand merci au personnel de Steinbach Cancercare.

Au lieu de fleurs, si désiré, un don peut être fait à la Société canadienne du cancer ou à la Fondation de maladies du cœur et de l’AVC.

Les funérailles auront lieu à 11h, le vendredi 13 juin, à Steinbach Christ Our Saviour Catholic Church. L’enterrement suivra au cimetière de La Broquerie.
