ABRAM BERGEN
August 9, 1918 – June 1, 2014

Our father, Abram T. Bergen was born to parents, Heinrich and Maria Bergen in Plum Coulee, Manitoba on August 9, 1918. He and Mom were baptized upon their confession of faith by Bishop Falk, on May 28, 1939, which was Pentecost Sunday.

He married Susana Goertzen on October 13, 1940. They enjoyed 71 years, 7 months, and 13 days together until our mother passed away on May 26, 2012.

Dad died peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2014 shortly after 5:00 p.m. with his family at his side. He reached the age of 95 years, 9 months, and 23 days.

Abram T. Bergen leaves to mourn his passing his nine children: John (Frieda), Henry (Diana), Mary (Dale) Toms, Helen (Dan) Harms, Bill (Kim), Erna (John) Funk, Esther (Real) Bruneau, Betty (Ken) Wiens, and Abe (Katherine); 34 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren, one brother Henry, in Paraguay, and one sister Katherina, in Steinbach.

He was predeceased by one son Abram, in infancy, three grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.

Viewing to be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The funeral service for Abram T. Bergen will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery in Steinbach.

The family wishes to express thanks and appreciation to Dr. Krahn and the nursing staff at the Rest Haven Nursing Home for the amazing care and support they provided to our father and our family during dad's last years.
As well, thank you for all the prayers, encouragement and expressions of sympathy from family and friends.
