GEORGE KEHLER
November 16, 1927 – May 23, 2014

George Kehler passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, MB.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Annie Kehler (Wiebe), his children: Amanda (Mick), Gerald (Gundy), Val and Randy (Michele). He will be missed by his six grandchildren and their spouses, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. George was predeceased by son-in-law Randall Loewen and grandson Wade Kehler.

George was a man of faith and after a full life longed for his eternal home.

George was born in Blumengaard, MB on November 16, 1927. Upon confession of his faith he was baptized at the Prairie Rose EMC in Landmark, MB. In June 1951, he married Annie Wiebe and for 40 years they resided in Winnipeg. Together with his sons, they established George Kehler and Sons Construction specializing in church building. During these years George always found time to be an avid Blue Bomber fan and season ticket holder.

After his retirement he began employment at Hampton Green as a superintendent. Following his triple bypass heart surgery he found it necessary to resign from his position at Hampton Green. In the next years George and Annie were able to enjoy traveling and quality time with their children and grandchildren. For the last nine years Woodhaven in Steinbach has been their home.

In January 2014, George was hospitalized due to deteriorating health where he remained until he passed away. Family was a priority to him and he especially appreciated all the time spent around his bed during his lengthy illness. Annie was tireless in her faithful journey to the hospital. We as a family are grateful for all his loyal visitors.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Prairie Rose EMC Cemetery, Landmark, MB.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and the compassionate staff of the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital.
