STANLEY FREDRICK MEEK
Stanley Fredrick Meek, age 81, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning May 17, 2014. Stan was predeceased by his parents Anna and John Meek.
He was born April 24, 1933 and he grew up in Sprague with 1 brother, Jim, and 2 sisters, Mary and Linda.
Stan graduated from high school and started his own business - Stan’s Esso Service at Sprague MB. He was married to Adina Pahl in October 1963.
In 1966, he sold his business and took employment with Canada Customs, starting at the port of Lyleton, then moving back to Sprague in 1971. He worked at Customs for 25 years, during which time he started a 7 acre U-Pick strawberry farm east of Sprague. He sold his strawberry farm in 1991 and in the urge of his strong entrepreneurial spirit, built the Pond’s Restaurant and Motel. He retired from this business in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Adina, 3 sons, Greg (Mary Jane) at Cochrane, Alb.; John, at Dryden, Ont., Jared (Jodie) at Middlebro, MB., 9 grand children: Stacey, Cindy, Emily, Samantha, Colton, Walker, Madelynn, Hudson, Cheyanna and 5 great grand children, Jordynn, Rissa, Reagan, Emmett, and Tucker.
He thoroughly enjoyed his grand children.
They learned from his knowledge of the outdoors teaching them the skills of fishing, hunting and birding. The many stories of his life experiences kept them entertained for many an hour.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Sprague Community Hall Sprague, MB at 1:00pm with internment to follow in the Sprague Community Cemetery Sprague, MB.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of East Borderland community housing Inc., Box 207 Sprague, MB R0A 1B0
