Doris Anne Barkman passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the age of 81 years.
Doris is lovingly remembered by her daughters Debra (John Hunter) and Lori Barclay, and grandchildren Paige (Travis Bean), Chelsea and Wyatt. She is also survived by her long-time friend Jim Melville as well as several relatives in her home town of Steinbach, MB, including her 102-year-old mother Agatha.
Doris was predeceased by her husband Lorne Barkman.
She was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years, co-managed Hunter’s Hardware and Gift Store for seven years, worked as a Canada Post mail handler (driving a forklift) for 20 years, and volunteered tirelessly at the Calgary Drop In Centre for 10 years.
The memorial service was held on Monday, May 12 at 3 p.m. at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, AB.
