ELDA (THIESSEN) FALK
After a long and full life, Elda died peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Pembina Place Personal Care Home, Winnipeg, at the age of 92.
Elda is lovingly remembered by her children: Marilyn and Ted Redekop; Bill Thiessen; Barbara and Don Wiebe; David and Wendy Thiessen; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Abram and Agatha Toews; Henry, her husband of 62 years; Ben Falk, her second husband of six years; granddaughter Nikki Redekop; brothers Bill and Walter Toews; and sister Erna Derksen.
Elda is survived by sisters Mildred Beach (Tony) and Marilyn Wiebe (John) as well as nieces and nephews.
Mom was an avid gardener, golfer and game player, especially Scrabble. She was an accomplished pianist and played the piano until shortly before her death.
Her faith and the church were an integral part of her life.
The family would like to extend our special thanks to Elda's doctor of many years: Dr. Daniel Ilchyna; her much loved companions Kathy and Gail; her dear Home Care "Girls" at Fernwood Place in Steinbach; and the staff of Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach and Pembina Place, Winnipeg.
Cremation and interment have taken place.
The memorial service for Elda (Thiessen) Falk will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Runaway Bay Youth Resource Centre, an education centre in Jamaica run by Mildred and Tony Beach. Cheques may be made out to Runaway Bay Youth, c/o Mildred and Tony Beach; # 203-1106 St. Mary's Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R2M 3T5.
