MARGARET SORENSON

Margaret Sorensen R.N passed away in the Carberry personal Care Home March 20th 2014.

Margaret was born in 1921 to Peter and Maria Wiebe of Blumenort, Manitoba. She attended the local public school as well as three years at Steinbach Bible School. She enjoyed her youth on the family farm, the oldest of eleven children and in early adulthood moved to Castle Point with the family. From there she went to Winnipeg for her nurses training .After a year at the Portage Hospital, she continued her career in the MacGregor Hospital eventually becoming matron. Here she helped care for a severely injured man, Louis Sorensen, whom she married in 1966 and moved to Snowflake Farm near Austin, which she greatly enjoyed. Here she could grow all the plants and flowers she desired, with Louis, who excelled in plant husbandry.

After Louis’s death she stayed for a while in the retirement home they had built in Austin. Then Margaret moved into the Marshall Apartments in Carberry. She appreciated the friendly atmosphere there and was part of the Carberry Evangelical Free Church fellowship in town.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Louis. By four brothers John(Anne), Bill(Helen), Ed(Gail), Fred(Dorothy)and one sister Lydia(Jaques).

She is survived by two brothers Peter (Rosemarie)and Abe(Adeline) Three sisters Betty(Rueben)Mary(Raymond) and Kathy (Denis)
